Diversity and Inclusion: Best Practices to Maintain Global Competitiveness

Thursday, March 7, 2013 - 2:30pm to 5:00pm

Diversity and inclusion programs are opportunities for companies to enter new markets, build global teams, and maintain brand reputation. With the global nature of today’s business environment, companies are utilizing their diversity and inclusion programs to maintain their global competitiveness. Due to factors such as globalization, technology, and the changing demographics of the workforce, recruiting and maintaining a diverse workforce is important to a company’s success.

At this closed door meeting you will hear from different businesses about their diversity and inclusion programs and some best practices around using these programs to maintain a competitive global presence. The agenda will include discussions around human capital diversity as well as supply chain diversity. The meeting will also serve as an opportunity for you to network with industry peers and meet leaders in this space.

Sessions:

Employee Diversity as a Vital Resource
With the changing workforce demographics and globalization of business, companies hire diverse employees and establish effective inclusion programs for their workforce. Hear from companies about how recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce makes good business sense.

Supply Chain Diversity and Connecting the Mid-Size Business
There is a strong business case for supply chain diversity. But a lack of a structured industry framework for recruiting small and mid-sized businesses to be part of a large company’s supply chain complicates the process. During this session we will discuss the opportunity to create a collective framework for recruiting companies, opportunities for the local chambers to provide support, and tapping into the mid-sized business community.
