As a strategic information technology, sourcing, and business transformation leader, Abha Kumar has experience in the financial services, media and publishing industries. In her current role as Officer and Head of Global Sourcing at Vanguard, she provides strategic direction around the future of work, including innovation and start-ups. Ms. Kumar has led several key transformational shifts - Enterprise 2.0 (e2.0), and business/IT sourcing. With her experience in social media technology, she led the creation of the e2.0 agenda that transformed communication, mobility, and collaboration for employees and clients.
With a proven track record of leadership, transformational experience, and advancing diversity, Ms. Kumar was awarded the 2018 American Business Awards, Gold Stevie in the category of “Visionary for Creating Ecosystems of Tomorrow” for her work on diversity and e2.0 at Vanguard.
Prior to her role at Vanguard, Ms. Kumar was Vice President and Divisional CIO at Dow Jones & Co., creating innovative strategies due to technological disruption to drive change, increase capacity, and reduce investment and operating costs. She led and implemented Finance and IT outsourcing. Prior to that, she was Group Director at The New York Times, reported to the President of Shared Services where she co-led a program to consolidate and modernize financial and HR functions to a Shared Services Center.
At Vanguard, Ms. Kumar founded LEAP (Leadership and Engagement for Asian Professionals); served on Vanguard’s corporate Diversity Leadership Team and Talent Oversight Team for seven years. She speaks internationally on diversity and technological change, and was recently awarded the Inspirational Women Leaders award by Roshni Media.
Ms. Kumar graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India and has a Masters from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India.
