Cristie Upshaw Travis has been Chief Executive Officer of the Memphis Business Group on Health, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit business coalition whose members cover over 350,000 covered lives in Memphis and Tennessee, since 1994. In this role she supports employers by bringing them together to share solutions and provides tools for them to manage the cost and quality of their health benefits.
Cristie collaborates nationally and regionally to enhance program effectiveness and achieve results across a broader footprint. Nationally, she serves on the Boards of Directors for the National Business Coalition on Health, The Leapfrog Group, and on the National Commission for Prevention Priorities, as well as key committees for the National Quality Forum, the Consumer-Purchaser Alliance and NCQA.
Regionally, Cristie represents the employer purchaser perspective and lends her expertise as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Southern College of Optometry, the University of Memphis’ School of Public Health Dean’s Advisory Committee, and Baptist College of Health Sciences Health Management Advisory Committee. She is a participant and former Board Chair of the Common Table Health Alliance and a member of the Governance Council and Co-Chair of the Chronic Disease team for Healthy Shelby.
Cristie has her Masters of Science in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She spends her spare time in the Mississippi Delta where she has a family farm and a weekend home, both of which provide her with plenty of opportunities for her photography.
