Daniel J. Malone was senior vice president of engineering, major project and energy supply for CMS Energy and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy. He retired in December 2017. He now co-owns and operates Ozone’s Brewhouse in Lansing, Michigan with his son, Kyle where they brew, serve and distribute craft beer in the Michigan marketplace.
Previously, Malone served as Consumers Energy’s senior vice president of energy resources after serving as senior vice president of distribution operations, engineering and transmission.
Malone led two significant efforts in talent and economic development in his final years at Consumers Energy. The first, Pure Michigan Business Connect, resulted in over $6 billion in new business for Michigan companies. The second, the Michigan Talent Architecture Coalition led to the establishment of the first state-based Talent Pipeline Management Academy in the nation.
Malone earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Purdue University and holds a senior nuclear reactor operator certification. In 2008, he completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
