Mike Hicks is the George and Frances Ball Distinguished Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research and at Ball State University. He has held faculty positions at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Marshall University and the University of Tennessee. He holds degrees in economics from Virginia Military Institute and the University of Tennessee
With research focusing on regional economics and public finance he is author of three books and more than 50 academic papers. His research has been reported in such places as the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and has appeared on NPR, CSPAN, CNBC and The Nightly Business Report. He also writes a weekly syndicated business column.
Michael is retired from the army reserve, and served as an infantryman in combat and peacekeeping operations in the Middle East and Africa. He makes a home with his wife and three children aged 11 through 16 in Yorktown Indiana.
