Nicole Villamizar joined the U.S. EPA’s Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery 11 years ago as a Presidential Management Fellow. Nicole's focus areas at the EPA have included advancing sustainable materials management (SMM) through the recycling and reuse of non-hazardous industrial secondary materials (such as coal ash, spent foundry sand, and construction and demolition debris), as well as advancing sustainable management of electronics. In December of 2016, Nicole became Chief of the Materials Management Branch where she is currently responsible for leading the SMM Program’s efforts to implement its FY 2017 – FY2022 Strategic Plan and the built environment and sustainable management of food aspects of the SMM program. Nicole holds a Masters of Public Administration degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Brandeis University.
