Seema Patel is the Chief of Innovation Design in the U.S. Global Development Lab at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). For the past decade, she has been leading efforts to advance development results through collaboration, innovation and design. From launching new public-private partnerships, to pioneering the Agency’s Open Innovation experience, to promoting the practice of Collaborative Design Labs, Seema has pushed new models for doing development differently and disrupting the industry. Her current work allows her to work across wide range of global challenges from Wildlife Trafficking to Deforestation to Malnutrition as she fosters program experimentation, skills acquisition and an enabling environment for innovation and development effectiveness at USAID. Prior to her social innovation work, Seema was a Policy Advisor and Public Speaker for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and an investment banker for Citgroup, Prudential Securities and boutique firm, Vector & Volpe Securities.
