Susy Cheston is an innovative leader with over 25 years of international experience providing critical financial services to underserved populations. In her current role as a consultant for the Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion in partnership with the Institute of International Finance, she spearheaded a project to interview 24 commercial banks about their financial inclusion activities and served as lead author of the recently released “The Business of Financial Inclusion: Insights from Banks in Emerging Markets.” She previously launched the Financial Inclusion 2020 (FI2020) project for the Center for Financial Inclusion, engaging hundreds of private and public stakeholders, and serving as project lead for “A Change in Behavior: Innovations in Financial Capability.” While at Opportunity International, Susy held various roles including leadership of global organizational development, product development, and policy, research and advocacy. She was founding executive director of Opportunity’s Women’s Opportunity Network, launching its pilot project while living in El Salvador and then rolling the program out to 20 countries.
