"Working to Offset Carbon Dioxide Emissions From Plastic Production","Once upon a time, plastics were perceived as oil-hungry, unsustainable materials. Not anymore. EcoPaXX® is DSM's bio-based, high-performance polyamide (PA410) that offers outstanding performance across the board…while being made mainly from tropical castor beans which don’t compete with the food chain.EcoPaXX belongs to the family of long-chain polyamides, which offer exceptional performance in the most demanding of environments. That includes excellent chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, combined with a very high melting point (highest of all bio-plastics) and high crystallization rate (typical for engineering plastics like PA66 and PA46).The product is also certified 100% carbon neutral from cradle to gate. That means the amount of carbon dioxide emitted during the production of EcoPaXX is offset by the amount absorbed in plant growth, and in particular by the riccinus communis – the tropical castor bean plant that makes up some 70% of EcoPaXX.

"Green Power on Google Campuses","Google supports the development of green technologies by piloting them on their own turf by installing renewable energy production capabilities on their campuses. They have a 1.9 MW solar array along with a 970 kW cogeneration unit off their local landfill gas, which not only removes the methane, a potent greenhouse gas, but also converts it into electricity and heat that is used on campus. They've also installed an efficient ground source heat pump and deployed solar water heating on their office buildings in Mountain View (and Hyderabad and Tel Aviv).Where possible, Google powers its operations with renewable power by buying this energy directly from utility providers and from green energy facilities in the same grid regions as their data centers. By signing long term contracts for this power, they provides the utilities and developers financial certainty, which removes a significant roadblock to building renewable facilities and expands the amount of renewable energy on the grid.
Google has grown the size of the system from 1.7 MW to 1.9 MW, and it generates enough electricity to power 30% of the peak load of the buildings on which it sits, producing over 3 million kWH of clean energy. They have also signed nine contracts for 1,146 MW of wind energy, enough to power over 330,000 U.S. households. This is an important step toward their long-term goal of powering their operations with 100% renewable energy.

"Arconic Recycling","Arconic has taken steps to better understand the global waste streams of their operations following the separation of Alcoa Inc. These wastes include garnet, aluminum hydroxide sludge, caustic, limestone, and polishing dust and sludge. In 2017, they landfilled 51,429 metric tons of waste.
