Cargill and its businesses have made initial contributions of nearly $150,000 this week to support local relief efforts led by Red Cross and Feeding America food banks to assist those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Additionally, Cargill Animal Nutrition is donating 150,000 tons (the equivalent of six truckloads) of animal feed valued at $100,000 and is working closely with state agencies and veterinary associates to distribute this to animals in need in the area. Additionally, they have set up a dedicated employee-giving program for employees to make personal contributions through payroll deduction to longstanding partners, the American Red Cross and Feeding America. Cargill employs approximately 130 people in the Houston area and more than 4,000 people throughout Texas. Its facilities in Houston are closed and will reopen when it is safe for our employees.
