Co-convened by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Connecting Business initiative (CBi), this webinar provided an introduction to two resources: Resilience in a Box and Engaging Companies in Manmade Disasters—a guidance toolkit for private sector networks. Participants learned to understand the importance of engaging the private sector in natural and manmade disaster contexts and learned how the resources can guide them in the process.
The Resilience in a Box program is a collaborative partnership between The UPS Foundation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the Disaster Resistant Business (DRB) Toolkit Workgroup. The tool aims to educate business leaders on disaster preparedness and business resilience.
With funding from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), CBi and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) have co-developed a resource for private sector networks operating in manmade disaster contexts. The guidance toolkit provides a framework and practical tips for private sector networks on translating manmade disaster contexts into an engagement strategy that fits the capabilities of network participants, efficiently channels private sector capabilities and supports governments and the humanitarian community.
