The Inaugural Health Means Business Summit
With the support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and local and regional chambers of commerce, the U.S. Chamber Foundation has made creating a healthy workforce and healthy communities a top priority through the Health Means Business campaign. Our goal is to bring together businesses of all sizes, and their cross-sector partners, to become a powerful force for societal change. What began as a dialogue has now become a call-to-action.
On February 15—16, 2017, we hosted the first National Summit and Healthy10 Awards in Washington D.C. The National Summit brought together some of the most innovative businesses at the forefront of the health movement.
The Summit featured:
- High caliber thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and influencers from the ranks of business, government, nonprofits, health organizations, academia, and the media.
- Insightful panels, small group breakout sessions, and a variety of networking and physical fitness opportunities to showcase the powerful lessons learned from the Health Means Business campaign on a national stage.
- Original research on the business investment in community health.
- The campaign’s Health Champions Network.
During the summit, we explored the critical link between the business bottom line and health outcomes; the collective impact that can be achieved when focusing on the health of communities; and how businesses can become more competitive and help shape a healthier and more prosperous future, even outside the walls of their own businesses.
In addition, we honored ten outstanding cross-sector collaborations or innovative businesses working to create healthier communities across the nation. The winners were recognized during the inaugural Healthy10 Awards Ceremony.
We hope to see you at future events and invite you to join our business-led movement to create healthier workers and healthier communities!
The Road to Wellness
In 2017 we launched our Road to Wellness series. Through a series of exclusive dialogs, we aim to deepen the learning experience around the design and implementation of health and well-being initiatives that improve communities, workforce, the environment, and consumers. The forums are designed to help companies share experiences, combine best practices, build new partnerships, and identify innovative strategies for their organizations.
Our goals for these programs include:
- Facilitating an organic and rich dialogue around specific challenges that companies face in improving overall health and wellness for communities, consumers, and employees.
- Developing or expanding on corporate-led actionable solutions to these challenges, and
Using participating companies’ experience and leadership as learning opportunities for other companies through a final CCC report based on the roundtable discussions.
Health Learning Tours
Our annual Health Learning Tour is an opportunity to elevate the voice of businesses and local organizations on the cutting edge of driving business and health—be it for their consumers, community, workforce, or all three.
These unique invitation-only events bring together business leaders and other industry experts to explore practical and profitable opportunities that help drive community health and wellbeing while driving growth, performance, competitiveness, and innovation.
In 2018, we held a “Fostering Innovation for Healthier Communities” learning tour in Los Angeles, CA. A high concentration of health conscious and forward-thinking businesses coupled with challenging community dynamics to solve for, provided attendees with a varied and comprehensive educational experience and long-lasting partnerships.
