Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council (MSEAC)

The Military Spouse Employment Advisory Council (MSEAC) is one of the first private sector-led councils formed specifically to address military spouse unemployment. The MSEAC concentrates on connecting spouses to national and local employers of every size and industry.

This select group of companies – with proven track records and innovative spouse recruitment initiatives of their own – focuses not on words but on actions that address the unique employment challenges that military spouses face. Hiring Our Heroes then works to spread these best practices throughout America’s business community.

“This effort is not about aggregating numbers, tracking spouses or reaching quotas. It is about the top companies in our country figuring out how to find and keep the best talent - the kind of talent that military spouses have to share.” – Derek Blake, VP of Marketing LaQuinta Inns and Suites and Chairman of the MSEAC

Wounded Veteran and Caregiver Employment Advisory Council (WVCEAC)

The Wounded Veteran and Caregiver Employment Advisory Council (WVCEAC) was formed in 2014 to address the unique challenges faced by the nation’s wounded veteran and military caregiver population. Many wounded veterans, particularly from the most recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, transition out of the military with permanent injuries, including post-traumatic stress (PTS), physical disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries. The lives of military caregivers are also significantly affected – often they must sacrifice their careers while caring for wounded veterans and even upon returning to the workforce will need to work “non-traditional” hours to continue that support.

This committed group of companies understands that although wounded veterans and caregivers may face their own challenges, they have already proven their skills – both tangible and intangible – many times over. The WVCEAC is dedicated to finding flexible work schedules or remote-work opportunities that will support our heroes’ full integration back into society with careers in which they can thrive. Very few things in life are as difficult as battling back from significant war injuries – these men and women have already done so much and are now committed to achieving success in the rest of their lives.
