Wondering what type of hiring event you should attend? Read on to learn more about each type of event.

Hiring Fairs

These are one-day events hosted in mid- to large-size cities across the United States. A typical event includes job seeker workshops on interview skills, resume writing, and elevator pitches and concludes with a 3-hour hiring fair. Some hiring fairs feature employer workshops on hiring best practices. These events are held in partnership with local and state entities and are attended by employers looking to hire in the local communities. This type of event targets veterans, service members who are post-transition, reservists, guardsmen, and military spouses.

Transition Summits

These are two-day events focused on the military-civilian career transition. Transition Summits are held on U.S. military installations around the world to prepare transitioning service members and military spouses for the transition and educate recruiters and community leaders on military hiring best practices. A typical event includes a series of town hall-style panel discussions, networking receptions, employment workshops, and a hiring fair. Sports Expos

These are one-day events hosted in partnership with professional sports organizations at venues across the U.S. A typical event includes resume and interview workshops for job seekers and a hiring fair. This type of event targets service members who are post-transition, reservists, and guardsmen. Attendees of this type of event receive tickets to the evening's professional sports game. In the past year, we have partnered with more than 20 professional organizations from the NBA, NHL, and MLB to improve the lives of veterans in their communities.

 

Special Events

For Military Spouses

These events focus specifically on the military spouse community and are held on or near military installations. A typical event includes a career development workshop, a networking reception, and a hiring fair. These events provide military spouses with the opportunity to connect with experts, employers, and peers to build their professional networks. Click here to learn more about our Military Spouse Program.

For Wounded Veterans & Caregivers

These events focus specifically on the wounded veteran and caregiver community. A typical event includes job seeker workshops on interview skills, resume writing, and elevator pitches and employer workshops on myths surrounding disabilities and invisible wounds of war in the workplace. They also including a hiring aspect during which job seekers are matched with employers for on-site interviews.
