Military Spouse Program

We believe the best way for employers to understand the value of military spouses is to meet them face-to-face. Throughout the year, we host hiring and networking events across the country exclusively for military spouses. Military Spouse events provide military spouses the opportunity to connect with experts, employers, and peers in order to build their professional networks. Events are held in partnership with a military installation's family Employment Readiness Office and the Office of the Secretary of Defense's Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP).

Hiring Our Heroes hosts multiple-day transition summits on military installations to prepare transitioning service members and military spouses for the military-civilian career transition and educate recruiters and community leaders on best practices for hiring and retaining those groups. Military spouses of any status (e.g. active, reserve, guard, gold star, or transitioning) are welcome at these events.

Our In Gear Career program provides military spouses with career development and networking opportunities in military communities around the world. In Gear Career has more than 20 local chapters throughout the U.S. and Europe. Chapters connect military spouses with established networks, giving military spouses access to local business leaders, peers, and mentors, and support in their career development. In Gear Career also provides military spouses with online career development resources. Military spouses in similar occupations support each other in online communities and share career advice to enhance the career prospects of members of the community.

In addition to our in-person events and In Gear Career program, we've developed a digital experience for military spouses looking to advance their careers. Military spouses can build a skills-based resume that highlights their work and volunteer experience with Career Spark, network with other military spouses through our regional LinkedIn groups, get career advice from a mentor or expert through eMentor, and more. Military spouses - and employers looking to hire them - can learn more and get started by signing up for an HOH Digital account.
