1. What is Mental Health First Aid at Work?

Mental Health First Aid at Work is a training program that teaches participants how to notice and support an individual who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use concern or crisis, and connect them with the appropriate employee resources. Mental Health First Aid at Work is a skills-based, experiential and evidence-based practice.

  • Teach or endorse diagnosis
  • Encourage self–disclosure of mental illness or substance use
  • Embolden participants to become counselors
  • Promote the use of ADA or medical leave of absence
5. What do the trainings entail?

4-Hour Awareness Training Mental Health First Aid includes:

  • Intensive and highly-interactive presentation of mental health and addiction
  • Recognition of the signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety and substance use
  • Four interactive exercises and discussions, including three skills practice case studies assessing risk and nonjudgmental listening
  • Identification of and practice in providing appropriate resources

8-Hour Certification Training Mental Health First Aid includes:

  • Intensive and highly-interactive presentation on the spectrum of mental health and addiction 
  • Recognition of the signs and symptoms of the most prevalent mental illnesses and substance use
  • Identification of risk factors
  • Identification of and practice in providing appropriate resources
  • De-escalation of difficult situations
  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid
6. Is it easy to implement?

Full and half-day trainings are conducted for groups of thirty employees based on your schedule and accommodations. A series of short discussions leading up to the events helps customize important components of the training and reinforce your employee assistance and benefits programs.
