Tracy Young

Senior Associate R&D Director, NBD & Growth Technologies, The Dow Chemical Company

Tracy Young is currently a Sr. Associate R&D Director with responsibility for Growth Technologies within Dow Water and Process Solutions.  She is a member of the Growth Leadership team with responsibility for the business development portfolio to develop new technologies and new lines of businesses in new and adjacent markets. Young is actively involved in the industry to drive water sustainability programs to develop solutions to address the water-energy nexus and expand a circular economy focus on water reuse.  She is currently a member of the leadership board for the AIChE International Society for Water Solutions, an advisory board member at the University of Arizona Water and Energy Sustainable Technology Center, a member of the International Congress on Sustainable Science and Engineering, and a member of the Dow Corporate Water Steering Team. 

Prior to this role, Young led the Global Application Development R&D organization in Dow Water and Process Solutions with responsibility for the development of new applications and products across the business portfolio for reverse osmosis membranes, ultrafiltration membranes, and ion exchange.  She was a member of the Dow Water Technology Leadership Team with global responsibility to manage the innovation portfolio in partnership with marketing to drive growth across thirteen strategic markets.  She led a global technical organization with responsibility for seventy researchers and eleven application labs in nine countries.  Between 2009 to 2014, she led the startup of the Tarragona Water Technology Pilot Center in Spain, the KAUST Desalination Pilot Center in Saudi Arabia, opened three new regional laboratories in emerging geographies, and led the launch of multiple new innovations in water.

Over her 20 year tenure with Dow, Young has led technical service, application development, and product development teams across a wide variety of market segments in the plastics, biocides, and water treatment industry.  She has been a R&D/TS&D Leader at the technical-market interface for over 10 years with several business team leadership roles and a strong track record for developing new applications and launching new technologies with customers. 

Young earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1993 and completed an Executive Leadership for Women program with the Michigan State University Eli Broad School of Business in 2012.
