Clayton State University (CSU) is a minority serving institution of approximately 7000 graduate and undergraduate students, located just minutes from downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1965, nursing was one of its original majors. Transitioning to baccalaureate nursing in 1995, dental hygiene, health care management, health and fitness management and health sciences were added to complete the degree offerings in the College of Health. 
 
For the seventh time since 2014, U.S. News & World Report rankings identified Clayton State, as having the most diverse student body population among comprehensive baccalaureate-level colleges and universities in the Southern United States.  The School of Nursing graduates more nurses from underrepresented groups than any other school in Georgia including the historically black colleges and has been a leader in diversity education, offering continuing education and diversity conference to nurse educators.
 
 
·      Accountable for setting and executing the vision of the College of Health.  Led the development of new, nationally accredited graduate programs in nursing education, leadership, family nurse practitioner and health care administration.  CSU’s graduate programs reflect the diversity of its undergraduate program with 80-90% of its MSN and MHA graduates belonging to underrepresented groups.
·        Participated directly in the procurement of over $4.5 million dollars in external funding since assuming leadership role at CSU.

·      Negotiated relationship with Daejeon Health Sciences University, Daejeon, South Korea, OUTCOME: Eight CSU faculty and 62 nursing student exchanges have occurred in 2014-2016. 
·      Established international experiences for students and faculty in Guatemala, England, France, and Turkey.
·      Transitioned established nurse managed clinic to a University Health Services serving over 10,000 clients annually. Responsible for the strategic planning and operations of University Health Services 2005 – 2012.
·      Pioneered nursing theory on the web, OUTCOME: Over 1.6 million individuals provided information about nursing theory through my websites, nursing textbooks and online art gallery.
·      Participate as a member of the CSU’s Extended Cabinet for the purpose strategic planning and business strategy implementation.
·      Supervise the Chair of School of Nursing, Chair of Dental Hygiene, Chair of Health Care Management, Director of Health and Fitness Management, Director of Health Sciences, College of Health Program Manager, and College of Health Advisors.
·      Developed and taught the first and only online nursing informatics post baccalaureate certificate series in Georgia from 2000-2005.
·      Chaired the initiative to improve NCLEX scores.  OUTCOME: Improved NCLEX scores from mid-70% in 1997-98 to mid-90% in 1999, consistently remained scores in the mid 90% since that time.

Founded in 1826, Mississippi College (MC) is the second oldest Baptist University in the nation. MC offers over 80 areas of study, 16 graduate programs, including a physician’s assistants and doctoral programs.  The School of Nursing was established in 1969 and graduated its first class in 1973.  Its academic programs of liberal arts and sciences and professional studies are dedicated to the pursuit of academic excellence. 
 
·      Assumed the deanship when School of Nursing was on probation by the NLNAC. Led necessary corrective actions, directed the NLNAC re-visit and helped restore full accreditation with no recommendations.  Also directed a successful subsequent accreditation visits with no recommendations received.
·      Accountable for executive planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all activities related to the educational programs offered by the School of Nursing. 
·      Led the chartering of a Sigma Theta Tau chapter.
·      Increased the number of faculty holding the terminal degree from 10% to 50% during my tenure as dean.
·      Served as an officer and board member in the Mississippi Nurses’ Association (MNA)
·      Selected by MNA for media training by the ANA.
·      Offered testimony to legislative committees on health policy & nursing – related bills.  OUTCOME: My lobbying activities resulted in the funding of over 3 million dollars for nursing education and the establishment of two new nurse practitioner programs in state sponsored nursing programs located in rural Mississippi.  Efforts chronicled in Mason, D. Auburn University was established in 1856 and became the first land-grant college in the South. This research intensive university has an enrollment of over 25,000 students located in Auburn, Alabama. The Auburn University School of Nursing (AUSON) was established in 1979 to foster and exemplify excellence in teaching, service/outreach, and research. The program prepares baccalaureate and master’s prepared nurses to provide patient – centered, culturally competent, evidence based care for diverse populations in a dynamic health care environment.    
 
·         Chaired the AUSON Curriculum Committee during curriculum revision process.
·         Assisted with the leadership and management of the School of Nursing during transition in leadership.
·         Served as faculty representative to AUSON Foundation Board.
·         Recognized by the AUSON Foundation Board for outstanding service to the School of Nursing.
·         Established the Godparent Program – a unique, interprofessional program between the School of Nursing and the Cooperative Extension Service pairing nursing students with pregnant teens.
·         Taught pediatric nursing using overnight- 2 week diabetic summer camp as the primary clinical site.

The School of Nursing offers baccalaureate, masters, DNP and PhD’s in nursing.
