Dr. L. Joy Baker is a Board Certified general Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, Georgia. She has experience working in both urban and rural communities as a physician with diverse populations over the last seven years. Dr. Baker has been the recipient of numerous awards to include Upson Regional Medical Center’s 2016 Press Ganey Top Patient Satisfaction and 2015 Physician Community Service Awards, the Grady Health Foundation “Next Generation Healer” Award, the Ryan and Reginald Wimberly and Arnold P. Gold Foundation Awards for Humanism in Medicine, Outstanding Scholar Awards, Emory University School of Medicine REACH Award and many others. She has held many leadership positions such as President of the Morehouse School of Medicine Resident’s Association, Vice-Chair of American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Junior Fellows. Dr. Baker has also conducted presentations at the local and national levels on various health issues. This year, Baker launched her own health business and information technology consulting firm, Lotus Group LLC. The firm offers creative, custom solutions to unique problems encountered by Healthcare providers, administrators and other professionals.
Dr. Baker is a Georgia native who enjoys music, dance, and interior design.
