Amway says a team of more than 40 employees launched Project Light Speed. The employees used 9,000 gallons of ethanol and other raw materials available at Amway’s Ada campus to create a hand sanitizer that will be donated to Spectrum Health hospital employees handling the mounting cases of COVID-19.
In Malaysia, Amway has contributed RM 156,000 ($35,800 USD) to University Malaya Medical Center for the purchase of Covid-19 testing kits; donated 100 units of Atmosphere Air Purifier to Hospital Sungai Buloh; and delivered 150 units of Atmosphere Air Purifier to the Ministry of Health, which were then distributed to Emergency and Trauma Units of public hospitals all over Peninsular Malaysia, Labuan, Sabah and Sarawak.
Amway Japan has launched a four-part CSR initiative to support Japan’s response to the pandemic:
- In March, the company made an immediate cash donation to support kodomo shokudo or “children’s kitchens” providing meals and academic support to children from families pushed into poverty because of unemployment.
- The company donated 10 of its ATMOSPHERE Sky air purifier units to Tokyo Medical Center, to improve the working environment of a major hospital on the front lines of treating COVID-19 patients.
- The company gifted “Care Packages for Medical Heroes” containing personal care products and a note of thanks to 6,910 medical professionals in 205 hospitals and clinics nationwide, on the front lines of Japan’s pandemic response.
- The company is organizing a series of live-stream charity events through June 30 to raise funds from its 600,000+ distributors in Japan to support research for COVID-19 vaccines and therapies at Japan’s National Center for Global Health and Medicine.
Amway has also donated 1 million Baht to the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute to support timely procurement of the items needed for care and treatment of covid-19 patients.
