Deere & Company - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

May 1, 2020: A group of Deere employees in Moline continues to produce protective face shields for healthcare workers. As of May 1, the team has shipped more than 200,000 face shields and plans to produce another 200,000. While initial orders were delivered to healthcare workers in communities where employees live and work, plans have expanded to provide shields to healthcare workers in more than a dozen states/Canadian provinces.

April 24, 2020:

  • Manufacturing engineer creates simple, low-cost solution for no-touch positioning of hand carts on the manufacturing floor.
  • Deere team creates fun activities for children, including virtual field-trip videos, to help parents and educators engage children in at-home learning.

April 17, 2020: Deere engineer designs a no-touch door opener. The original design was shared publicly for 3D-print manufacturing and later altered for laser-cut manufacturing.

April 16, 2020: John Deere employees in India provided food and hygiene supplies to communities and personal protective equipment to hospitals and healthcare workers. The initial relief effort focused on food insecure areas in four cities – Pune, Dewas, Sirhind, and Nagpur – where Deere has factories or offices.

April 9, 2020: Deere employees begin production of protective face shields for health-care workers.

April 7, 2020: Deere ingenuity makes use of in-house 3D-printing technology to improve employee safety, manufacturing face shields to affix to existing bump-guard ballcaps. Company releases plans via its COVID-19 innovation page, free of charge, so other companies can do the same.

March 26, 2020: John Deere supports local Iowa and Illinois hospital system by donating protective eyewear to help safeguard doctors and nurses who are on the frontlines.

March 20, 2020:

  • John Deere continues to operate in the face of COVID-19 because our business, as designated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, is essential to ensuring community and national resilience and well-being.
  • John Deere Foundation announces a 2-for-1 match for employee donations up to $250,000 to select home-community food banks and American Red Cross chapters. For example, employee donations of $250,000 plus the Foundation's $500,000 match would provide $750,000 in much-needed support to these organizations.

March 17, 2020: John Deere Financial encourages its financing/lease customers to call 800-325-0130 or contact via MyJohnDeere.com for support needed due to COVID-19-related financial hardships.

March 13, 2020: The company announced it will waive copays, coinsurance, and deductibles for COVID-19 testing for employees.

March 11, 2020: In China during the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak, Deere dealers and customers jumped into action to help build two new hospitals in less than two weeks.

March 10, 2020: Company representatives contacted local chambers of commerce, United Way offices, and foodbanks to understand the impact the virus is having in John Deere-unit communities to help support a social safety net for those affected.
Deere activated a COVID-19 employee-resource site that provides information from the U.S. Centers on Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) and includes relevant company policies and communications.
