AmerisourceBergen is working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to serve as a network administrator which allows the company to place COVID-19 vaccine orders with the CDC on behalf of an initial set of eligible and qualified Good Neighbor Pharmacy and Elevate Provider Network members across select states and jurisdictions as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Because AmerisourceBergen has a seat at the table, the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Network was selected to provide support in select jurisdictions early because of our pharmacies’ ability to equitably serve local, hard-to-reach priority populations that are at risk for severe illness quickly and efficiently.
With more than 90 percent of people living within 5 miles of a community pharmacy, pharmacists have unique reach and ability to provide access to COVID-19 vaccines and support broad vaccination efforts. Good Neighbor Pharmacy has been matched with Texas, Nebraska, Kentucky, Kansas and Guam and select stores across these states will receive vaccine allocation through AmerisourceBergen’s program beginning the week of Feburary 8.
