In an effort to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the City of North Chicago is opening a free temporary vaccine administration clinic at the Greenbelt Cultural Center. The clinic will initially serve an estimated 1,700 North Chicago residents age 65 and over. The temporary facility will be able to serve approximately 150 people per day beginning on February 15 and operate for two months.
“The partnership between the city, AbbVie, North Chicago Community Partners, and the Lake County Health Department to bring this vaccination site together so quickly is remarkable,” said North Chicago Mayor Leon Rockingham, Jr. “Our seniors are the most vulnerable to this devastating virus, I am grateful to see the COVID vaccinations offered to them with easy access right in their community.”
The clinic is sponsored by AbbVie, a research-based global biopharmaceutical company, with a long-standing commitment to North Chicago. Working in partnership with AbbVie, North Chicago Community Partners is reaching out to eligible community members to help register them to receive the vaccine.
