The U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes announced this month that Troops Into Transportation has joined the organization’s Veteran Employment Advisory Council at a service member transition summit at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. Troops Into Transportation works to help service members obtain their commercial trucking driving licenses and places service members into trucking jobs as they exit the military.
“Since 2012, we have placed over 1,500 service members in the transportation industry with our partner carriers; demand and opportunities have only increased since that time. The industry is changing quickly and new drivers can choose what kind of routes to drive, with positions earning up to $60,000 annually,” said Al Hanley, III, president and chief executive officer of Troops Into Transportation. “We are very pleased to join the Hiring Our Heroes coalition to place even more veterans and military spouses into meaningful jobs.”
More than 1,600 service members attended the three-day summit, where they were able to interact with Troops Into Transportation hiring managers and recruiters to discuss opportunities in the trucking industry.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Troops Into Transportation to our team,” said Eric Eversole, vice president, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and president, Hiring Our Heroes. “The trucking industry has long been a community that has welcomed military veterans, and we are proud to bring this great organization into the Hiring Our Heroes family.”
