Andrea Davis
Senior Director, Global Emergency Management, Walmart

I started humbly: college as a single teen mother and waitressing graveyard shifts to make ends meet. Those challenges fostered my drive to succeed and a desire to help others in crisis.

My career in emergency management began in 1999 working for a small non-profit in San Francisco, the Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disaster (SF CARD). Little did I know it would lead to a career of a lifetime! From there, I went on to work as the Emergency Manager for the Golden State Division of the Salvation Army, the SF Volunteer Center, the 12th District of the Federal Reserve Bank and the City and County of San Francisco.

In early 2020, I had the amazing opportunity to join the Walmart Corporation as their Senior Director of Global Emergency Management. I lead the team responsible for preparing for disasters, developing business continuity plans, and managing crises to protect Walmart associates and customers around the world. I joined Walmart from the Walt Disney Company where I served as their Director of Global Crisis Management and Business Continuity. There, I led an enterprise-wide department responsible for developing and implementing culturally-relevant emergency management training programs, exercises, crisis and family assistance operations, and employee preparedness initiatives across the globe.

Prior to Disney, I served as the External Affairs Director for FEMA’s Louisiana Recovery Office. There, I oversaw all media, intergovernmental and congressional activities for one of the U.S.’ largest disaster recovery efforts, with a total recovery portfolio of over $25 billion. In my short tenure, I helped restore FEMA's brand. My team and I undertook an outreach campaign to regain the public’s trust. Our grassroots approach was credited with transforming the public’s perception of FEMA; culminating with over 300 groundbreaking/ribbon cutting ceremonies & the media coining a new acronym- TGFF: Thank God for FEMA.

My passion is volunteer service which led to my selection as the Inaugural Emergency Manager of the Year by the International Association of Emergency Managers. I was recently elected as Vice Chair for the NW Arkansas American Red Cross. My prior service includes: the Board Chair for the American Red Cross, LA Region, a Member of the Tiffany Circle National Council, a Member of the US Save the Children's Corporate Board, an Advisory Board Member for Dr. Lucy Jones Center for Science and Society, a Member of the National Children's Resiliency Leadership Board and a Member of the Garry Marshall Theatre Board.
