Sari Factor

CEO, Edgenuity

Sari began her career teaching mathematics at a middle school in Illinois, but she was soon thinking of other, much bigger ways, to impact students. She joined a company to develop educational technology products thinking that technology would transform the classroom and the way students learn. “Technology has changed the way the world works—how we communicate, how we shop, how we obtain information—but it has not had the impact I would have expected in schools … but that is finally beginning to change,” she says. “Technology is not a panacea … but with the research we’re doing, we’re gaining an understanding of how online learning can be most effective, and how our products are improving outcomes.”

Sari’s background affords her a uniquely qualified perspective on modern education. She’s held leadership positions at successful educational publishing and technology companies, including Kaplan, Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, Houghton Mifflin, and Everyday Learning Corporation. She later learned of Edgenuity, and the success schools and students were experiencing as a result of their products: “I knew it was a company where I could fulfill my vision to combine technology and the research on learning to make education truly student centered.”
