American Business Community Rallies Behind Early Childhood Education

November 11, 2010

ICW has just released its latest report, “Ready, Set, Go! Why Business Should Support Early Childhood Education,” which focuses on the immense impact that early childhood education has on our national economic security and the vitality of the American dream. Funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts and Knowledge Universe, this report focuses on early learning as an investment in workforce development by supporting policies that proffer high quality, evidence-based learning programs. Additionally, the report provides promising practices of successful business-led early childhood education initiatives throughout the country alongside a step-by-step guide business may use to support early childhood education in their communities.

In addition, ICW’s monthly webinar in September focused on the concepts discussed in the newly released report. Participants heard from experts on how high-quality early childhood education programs are promoting the whole child, paying equal attention to his or her cognitive, social, and emotional development, and how the business community can become better engaged. As with all of ICW’s webinars, an archive of this webinar is available online. You may also read Karen Elzey’s blog posting on the report.

Support in early childhood education today will have large impacts on a highly skilled workforce for tomorrow. The business community has a prime opportunity to get involved in supporting early childhood education -- now is the time to act.
