As states deal with deteriorating budgets, American employers increasingly struggle to find the talent they need to grow our economy. While college tuition continues to skyrocket, students, employers, and policymakers alike have begun to question how efficiently and effectively our institutions of higher education are utilizing the precious resources made available to them.

The Institute for a Competitive Workforce will release the third edition of its Leaders & Laggards series, A State-by-State Report Card on Public Postsecondary Education. This report analyzes how state public higher education systems are performing in areas such as return on investment and transparency, as well as whether states have policies and incentives in place to promote reform and innovation. Additionally, the report will include recommendations for what states can do to improve in these areas.

Speakers include:

  • Rick Hess, Director of Education Policy Studies, American Enterprise Institute
  • Andrew Kelly, Research Fellow, Education Policy Studies, American Enterprise Institute
