The partnership is a significant moment for the military hiring community as it marks the joining of two organizations with longstanding records of service to the military community. HOH and the USO will co-host all HOH transition summits on installations throughout the rest of 2016 and into 2017.
“The USO has long been a standard bearer when it comes to supporting our nation’s service members and their families, and through the USO Transition 360 Alliance they’re working to extend that support to recently transitioned veterans,” said Eric Eversole, U.S. Chamber of Commerce vice president and Hiring Our Heroes president. “We’re proud to be working with the Alliance to bring top-quality transition programming to even more service members, veterans, and military families.”
The USO Transition 360 Alliance brings together top organizations to offer holistic transition support and help service members and their families plan for the future, pursue a new career and strengthen their families. With more than 180 locations worldwide, the USO is uniquely positioned to connect service members with a comprehensive network of best-in-class partners, programs and services to ease their return to civilian life, no matter their age or stage in their military career.
“This new partnership is a natural expression of the USO Transition 360 Alliance,” said Alan Reyes, USO senior vice president of operations, programs and entertainment. “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Hiring Our Heroes are well-respected organizations that military and civilian populations know and trust and together we will be able increase our reach to service members, veterans and military spouses across the country and around to globe.”
Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and other strategic partners, Hiring Our Heroes has helped hundreds of thousands of veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment through more than 1,000 job fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and on military installations overseas; a suite of free online resources; and the Hiring 500,000 Heroes campaign.
So far in 2016, the USO and Hiring Our Heroes have co-hosted three transition summits, and at least six more are planned in the coming months, including Fairbanks, Alaska (August 17-18); Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia (September 7-8); Fort Carson, Colorado (September 13-14); Camp Pendleton, California (September 28-29); Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington (October 4-6); and Honolulu, Hawaii (October 18-19).
