Join us Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for a job fair for veterans, active duty military members, guard and reserve members, and military spouses at the Charlotte Convention Center Ballroom, Section C & D, 501 S. College Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28202. This fair is a part of the 96th Annual American Legion National Convention in Charlotte. This event will be a one-of-a-kind FREE hiring fair for both employers and job seekers.

Hiring Our Heroes Employment Workshop

The Hiring Our Heroes employment workshop consists of a classroom session beginning an hour prior to the hiring fair. This will be followed one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered and walk-in participants to be conducted throughout the day.  Mentoring sessions focus on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Interested candidates must complete the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for the full workshop.  Once the pre-registered candidates have their coaching sessions, the opportunity may be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair (depending on availability).

Corporate Employment Workshops (hosted by The American Legion)

The Corporate Employment Workshops will consist of a classroom session that lasts about an hour and a half. They will be offered Monday and Tuesday, August 25 & 26 by companies such as General Electric, Nexstar, Citi, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin. Pre-registered and walk-in transitioning service members, veterans, and their spouses are welcome to participate in these opportunities to engage with a variety of great employers.

On both days, a Networking Breakfast will begin at 8:30am, to be followed by a Corporate Panel from 9:00am–10:30am at the Westin Charlotte Hotel, Grand Ballroom, Section A, Level 2. Lunch will be provided also, and the Corporate Employment Workshops to follow will be hosted by the various companies in classrooms. See our event agenda below.

Best Practices in Veteran Recruitment Lunch & Learn

Employers are invited to attend a USAA sponsored "Best Practices in Veteran Recruitment Lunch & Learn" from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. following the conclusion of the hiring fair at a location that will be designated on the day of the event.

This session will take place directly after the Hiring Our Heroes hiring fair scheduled from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be served and it's free for employers, recruiters, and HR professionals! Register today if you are interested in learing the best preactices around finding, recruiting, and retaining veterans and military spouses. Must register as an employer for the above event to attend.
