Accenture

Accenture is innovating to build more inclusive societies. Together with Save the Children, they have created scalable and sustainable technology solutions to close employment gaps for marginalized and vulnerable youth.

Innovations include the Dooit mobile application, which helps girls in Indonesia develop financial literacy and employability skills. In addition, the partners are currently testing an immersive augmented reality/virtual reality tool that helps students and out-of-school youth in Vietnam visualize potential career pathways and prepare for success.

To date, Accenture and Save the Children have equipped nearly 90,000 youth in more than 10 countries with the skills to get a job or build a business. Over the next three years, they plan to equip more than 80,000 additional youth with these skills.

Entergy Corporation

Entergy is dedicated to operating a world-class energy business that creates sustainable value for customers, owners, employees, and the communities it serves.

Entergy established a workforce development initiative to create a competitive economic development advantage for the communities it serves by addressing gaps in workforce readiness. The five-year $5 million program consists of a two-pronged approach: improving the quality of talent pools through Workforce Training Grants and ensuring that students graduate with the skills needed for success through School-to-Career Readiness Grants. This approach ensures the communities where Entergy operates can compete successfully for economic development projects that bring new jobs and increased prosperity to our communities.

Entergy’s workforce training grantees were directly involved in corporate relocation projects that will bring 2,350 new jobs to the local regions. Indirectly, the projects helped to attract an additional 7,352 jobs to the region. Additionally, more than 34,000 middle and high school students enrolled in programs funded through School-to-Career Readiness Grants reported positive benefits as part of the program.

Timberland

Timberland has a longstanding commitment to create responsible products, protect and restore the outdoors, and serve communities worldwide. The brand’s efforts to plant seeds for Haiti’s future, in partnership with the Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA), delivers on all three.

This unique agroforestry initiative reforests Haiti while increasing farmland productivity and supply chain accessibility for Haitian smallholder farmers.

By 2020, Timberland aims to sustainably source 100% of its apparel cotton. Reintroducing cotton farming to Haiti after 30+ years gives Timberland access to organic cotton for its products while also advancing SFA’s efforts to reforest Haiti and improve the lives of smallholder farmers.

In five years, this program will plant 25,000,000 new trees and engage 34,000 Haitian smallholder farmers to produce 15,000,000 pounds of organic cotton lint annually.

Together, planting seeds for Haiti’s future.
