USCCF and Urban Alliance Partner for "Youth Employment Matters!"
As the United States slowly emerges from economic recession, there is one group who continues to lag behind in recovery—youth. Currently, a staggering 6.7 million young adults are neither in school nor working. And while the national unemployment rate has declined to 6.3%, rates for those aged 16—24 are nearly two times that in some parts of the country. This slow recovery stands to have economic implications for decades to come and threatens the overall health and stability of the U.S. economy.
The business community has a vested stake in this recovery, and the ability to offer solutions to stem this problem. This Friday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host Youth Employment Matters! High-Quality Solutions and the Role of Corporate Engagement in partnership with Urban Alliance to focus on this important issue. This event will feature discussions on the importance of youth workforce development, collaborative initiatives that are narrowing the current skills gap, and ways for the business community to further support America's future workforce. Speakers will include Vice President Joe Biden, executives from Marriott International, Bank of America, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, the Urban Institute, and other distinguished officials.
While registration is now closed, the event will be live streamed beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3. No on-site registration will be available. If you have not already registered for the event, we hope you will join us virtually for this important conversation.
