Central Texas, particularly the Hill Country, has been hit by devastating flash flooding since the start of the July 4th weekend. The Guadalupe River basin in Kerr County experienced an unprecedented surge after heavy rainfall, causing destruction across communities and a death toll exceeding 130, including many children.
As rescue and recovery efforts continue, the scale of the damage is becoming clear: widespread infrastructure collapse, power and communication outages, and immense personal loss. Federal, state, and local agencies are continuing to respond, along with other organizations that are assisting with community needs.
State and local officials are encouraging financial donations to trusted organizations that are meeting needs on the ground. Unsolicited on-site volunteers are discouraged to avoid impeding professional operations.
