The circular economy—an economic model focused on eliminating waste and inefficiency and promoting greater resource productivity—promises big opportunities for companies to drive growth, innovation and competitiveness. The theme for our 2017 sustainability and circular economy summit is From Aspiration to Implementation. In partnership with The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and with support from the World Economic Forum Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy, this year’s event helped participants identify practical actions and solutions they can take to turn circular economy aspiration into profitable action to optimize resources, eradicate waste, accelerate innovation and performance, and contribute to a stronger competitive economy.
Session topics included:
- New business models and practices
- Systems design principles
- Process and material innovation
- Supply chain innovation
- Transformative partnerships
- Measurement and communications
Through inspiring keynote speakers, interactive small group discussions, deep dive workshops, and networking opportunities—this was an unparalleled opportunity for professionals in the sustainability field. Participants explored the ideas, innovations, technologies, and partnerships needed to leverage value adding circular economy strategies and principles that enables business growth, economic prosperity, ecosystem health, and community well-being.
