U.S. Corporate Water Risks: Closing the Gap between Concern and Action

Tuesday, June 17, 2014 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

A 2014 survey of major U.S. corporations by the Pacific Institute and VOX Global found that 60% of companies believe water challenges will negatively affect business growth and profitability within five years. More than 80% said it will affect their decision on where to locate facilities. This is a stark increase from five years ago, when fewer than 20% of responding companies were concerned about water risks.

The Pacific Institute-VOX Global survey involved more than 50 U.S. companies and was combined with in-depth interviews with senior officials with direct responsibility for water issues at major companies. It found that despite the growing concern, most companies aren’t increasing the breadth and scale of their water risk management practices. In fact, nearly 70% said their current level of investment in water management is sufficient.

During this one-hour webinar, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center, Pacific Institute, VOX Global, and WASH Advocates, attendees will discuss these findings and explore the gap between concern and action. Attendees will hear private sector case studies, as well as steps companies can take to identify water risks and opportunities, and how to make the business case for action.
