BCLC will host The Citizens Awards reception at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The event will begin with a reception, which will be followed by dinner and winner announcement.

The Citizens Awards honor strategic and sustained positive impact on people, communities, the environment, and society. Over the past 14 years, some of the most accomplished social and community initiatives within the business sector have been recognized through the Citizens Awards.

BCLC is thrilled to announce Soledad O'Brien as this year's Citizens Awards emcee!

 

Soledad O'Brien is an award winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor and producer. O'Brien was the originator of the highly successful documentary series "Black in America" and "Latino in America". She is also the co-founder of the  Soledad O'Brien & Brad Raymond Foundation. Established with her husband, Brad, the foundation helps disadvantaged young women get to and through college. This year they will award scholarships to 25 deserving young women.

International Jazz-Pop Vocalist Gareth Barker to Perform at the 2013 Citizens Awards!

 

Gareth Barker is an 18-year old Welsh singer and international jazz-pop vocalist based in New Zealand. Gareth quickly rose to prominence by combining the modern styles of Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran with the classic sounds of Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra. Gareth is also an Ambassador for the Global Volunteer Network (GVN) Foundation--a nonprofit that provides resources to grassroots organizations working with vulnerable women and children in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The GVN Foundation is a 2013 "Great Nonprofit" award recipient.
