Join us Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, for a job fair for veteran job seekers,active duty military members, guard and reserve members, and military spouses at the Birmingham CrossPlex, 2331 Bessemer Rd., Birmingham, AL 35208.

A MASCO Contractor Services sponsored workshop for veterans and other military job seekers that focuses on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation, and interviewing will start at 8:30 a.m. Pre-register for the Workshop during the job seeker registration process.

A Lunch & Learn presentation for employers focused on best practices for recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans and military spouses will start at 1:00 p.m.

Masco Employment Workshop

The Masco employment workshop consists of a classroom session beginning an hour and a half prior to the hiring fair.  This is a unique workshop being trained by local Masco HR professionals. This will be followed one-on-one mentoring sessions by Masco representatives with all pre-registered and walk-in participants to be conducted throughout the day.  Mentoring sessions focus on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Interested candidates must complete the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for the full workshop.  Once the pre-registered candidates have their coaching sessions, the opportunity may be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair (depending on availability).

Best Practices in Veteran Recruitment Lunch & Learn

Employers are invited to attend a Best Practices in Veteran Recruitment Lunch & Learn from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on May 7 at the Birmingham Hiring Fair in the conference room. This session will take place directly after the Hiring Our Heroes hiring fair scheduled from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be served and it’s free for employers, recruiters and HR professionals!
