The Energy, Water, & Food Nexus: Risks and Opportunities for the Private Sector

Monday, May 5, 2014 - 3:00pm to 5:30pm

The Atlantic Council and the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center invite you to our upcoming roundtable, which is the first in a series of three regarding the Energy, Water, and Food Nexus: Risks and Opportunities for the Private Sector. The goal of these roundtables will be to pinpoint the nexus risks to businesses, which can be seen in all sectors. Increasing urbanization and energy use by an expanding US population means an even greater demand for food, water, and energy. Thus, leadership from the private sector, in collaboration with key stakeholders, is critical to successfully manage the interlinkages and tradeoffs between water, food, and energy for the benefit of society, business, and the environment.

This first roundtable will define the three nexus issues; delve into the ways that energy, water, and food interact; explore the risks to business; and shine a spotlight on national security implications. The meeting will convene senior thought leaders from industry, government, academia, and other stakeholder groups on May 5, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., followed by a networking reception.

The roundtable will be held at:
