BCLC’s Health and Wellness working group is convening on Friday, January 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (on the Inova Fairfax Hospital Campus).
The Health and Wellness network will discuss the myths and perceptions concerning the role of business in driving health and wellness solutions. The healthcare industry has made many short- and long-term positive contributions to society over time. Yet, despite these contributions, health organizations rank 15 out of 16 in the 2012 Confidence in Institutions ranking poll by Gallup. Why? How can an industry that provides so much ‘good’ rank so low? It is evident that the positive contribution that these organizations are providing is not translating or being understood by outside stakeholders. Is it a matter of scale, awareness and education, or how the issue is being discussed? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed at the meeting.
Also, during the meeting, BCLC plans to release its latest report, The Role of Business in Health and Wellness Innovation. The report features businesses that have made extraordinary advances on a number of fronts, such as disease management, workplace wellness, fitness management, and surgical technologies. Report contributors will discuss their innovations in the meeting as the dialog continues on the direction of the health and wellness field.
Along with a light breakfast and healthy lunch, Inova will also provide the group with a special tour of the Inova Hospital simulation center.
Inova Fairfax Hospital Campus is located at 3300 Gallows Road, Falls Church, VA 22042. Parking passes are available. The closest metro station is Dunn Loring-Merrifield Metro which is a short taxi ride to the Hospital Campus.
This event is for BCLC supporters only. If you are interested in attending or learning more please contact Hanna Felleke.
