Overview

Early Learning Ventures (ELV), a Colorado-based nonprofit, created a cloud-based service platform for childcare providers, helping them oversee and streamline administrative tasks.

Key Impact Metrics

  • 1.2K

  • 10
    states in operation
  • 68K+
    children served

Problem

Small childcare providers often struggle with limited administrative capacity, high operating costs, and inefficient systems. Many spend hours on paperwork and compliance instead of caregiving or teaching. Lacking economies of scale, they face rising costs for things such as insurance, supplies, and software or system applications. These challenges lead to a shrinking supply of childcare centers, especially in low-income and rural areas.

Solution

ELV developed a service platform called Alliance CORE, which helps independent childcare providers with administrative and business support on matters such as enrollment, attendance, staff management, and billing, plus coaching on business practices. By standardizing and automating back-office operations, ELV lets care providers focus on children. The platform also enables providers to easily conform with certain childcare regulations, such as documenting regular health and safety checks.

Results

  • Beneficiary Impact68,000 children served
  • Employee Impact551 hours saved
  • Financial Results$22 saved per child per year

Replication Tips

  • Be simple: Ensure the platform is user-friendly and conducive to different types of users.
  • Leverage existing provider networks: Begin with a small cohort of childcare providers already participating in Quality Rating and Improvement Systems or subsidy. programs—they’re more likely to adopt shared services that reduce compliance burdens and administrative overhead.
  • Incorporate coaching and quality support along with administrative services. Have mentor specialists regularly visit childcare providers to assist with licensing, curriculum, and business improvements.
