Business Excellence in Disaster Response Reception 2016

Join the Corporate Citizenship Center for the Business Excellence in Disaster Response Reception. The reception will take place immediately prior to the annual public-private partnership conference co-hosted by U.S. Northern Command, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and FEMA.

The Corporate Citizenship Center's Disaster Response and Community Resilience Program is committed to improving the efficacy of business philanthropy in disasters, breaking down information and coordination barriers between sectors, and highlighting the unique work of corporate citizens in the field.  The businesses in this Network are committed to expanding individual and business preparedness, providing skills and resources for a robust response, and ensuring that long-term recovery is given due consideration in the disaster management cycle. Earthquakes in Ecuador and Japan and Flooding in Houston Coordination Webinar

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center (CCC) will host a coordination webinar on Friday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time to discuss relief efforts after the earthquakes in Japan and Ecuador and the flooding in Houston. The webinar will be structured as follows:
  • 11:00am - 11:30am: Overview of earthquake response efforts in Ecuador
  • 11:30am - 12:00pm: Overview of earthquake response efforts in Japan
  • 12:00pm - 12:30pm: Overview of flood response efforts in Houston

About 74% of American small businesses do not have a disaster plan, 84% do not have adequate insurance, and 71% lack a back-up generator. Once hit by a disaster, an eye opening 51% think it will take more than a month, or didn't know how long it would take, to re-open their doors.
