More than 100,000 respiratory masks are heading to southeast Michigan hospitals from the DTE Foundation. The KN95 masks will be delivered to hospitals across the region, including Henry Ford Health System, as part of the DTE Foundation's COVID-19 emergency response.
The energy company also donated 50,000 laptops to students in its service territory and is providing students with internet for 6 months.
DTE Energy announced that it is passing along between $30 to $40 million in bill relief to its electric utility customers for the months of June and July.
In the first month of the crisis, the Foundation supported one million meals, basic needs for 100,000 families and helped 400 small businesses with grants. The Foundation also launched a matching grant program for the Michigan Association of United Ways and Michigan Action that has resulted in nearly $1 million in public donations to-date. In addition, the Foundation is matching donations by DTE Energy employees, contractors and retirees to nonprofits across Michigan, including faith-based organizations.
DTE also partnered with Detroit Public Schools to donate 50,000 laptops with free wifi to students in Detroit.
The company is suspending power disconnections as well.
