ExxonMobil has reconfigured manufacturing operations in Louisiana to produce medical-grade hand sanitizer for donation to COVID-19 response efforts in Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. Initial production of 160,000 gallons of medical grade sanitizer – enough to fill nearly 5 million 4-ounce bottles – is being distributed to medical providers and first responders. Additional donation locations are planned.
ExxonMobil announced it is partnering with the Georgia Institute of Technology's Global Center for Medical Innovation to design and produce "reusable personal protection equipment" such as face shields and masks, for use by healthcare workers treating patients afflicted with COVID-19.
ExxonMobil is also proving one million meals to Houston-area residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Houston Food Bank will receive $200,000 to help deliver food to those in need. The donation includes $50,000 worth of gasoline gift cards for Exxon- and Mobil-branded retail stations. The company is also allocating $50,000 to the Montgomery County Food Bank.
ExxonMobil is helping to meet demand for products like medical hand sanitizers, alcohol wipes and disinfectant sprays by manufacturing a key ingredient, isopropyl alcohol (IPA), and providing it to the customers and areas that need it most.
In China, the affiliate has been providing support to COVID-19 relief activities, including a donation of $200,000 USD to the China Charity Federation to assist in COVID-19 relief efforts, donating 48,000 masks and 4,300 sets of protective clothing to communities, and working with major e-commerce platforms to provide free oil supply of 4L Mobil 1™ synthetic lubricants to doctors, nurses and other front-line responders.
In Papua New Guinea, ExxonMobil (EMPNG) is supporting National Department of Health (NDoH) COVID-19 prevention awareness efforts in Hela, Southern Highlands and Central Provinces. In Hela, fuel and rations are being provided to support remote area operations, while across the three provinces ExxonMobil is assisting the NDoH with the printing and distribution of awareness materials. EMPNG is also making available its charter aircraft to support the movement of NDoH supplies and materials between Port Moresby and Komo Airfield in Hela province. EMPNG’s network of Village Liaison Officers, comprised of 60+ respected community members, is also helping the NDoH COVID-19 awareness efforts by sharing information within their communities, all while maintaining safe social distancing.
Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited and ExxonMobil Affiliates in Thailand donated 750 pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute (300 pieces), Nam Phong hospital (100 pieces), Ubonratana Hospital (50 pieces), The Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital (150 pieces) and Chonburi Hospital (150 pieces) for use by medical professionals battling COVID-19.
ExxonMobil Guam made a donation to Guam Memorial Hospital to help procure necessary medical and safety equipment. In addition, ExxonMobil service stations on the island have installed specially designed window panels for cashiers while implementing social distancing procedures for customers.
In Hong Kong, ExxonMobil service stations are distributing hand sanitizer with eligible fuel purchases.
ExxonMobil Indonesia has donated N95 medical masks, medical coveralls and rapid test kits to supporting paramedics fighting COVID-19 in Bojonegoro Regency, East Java Province; cotton masks for the residents of Gayam sub-district, the host district of its Banyu Urip site and medical coveralls to Tuban Regency Health Agency.
The first donation was given to the Bojonegoro Health Agency for medical teams at selected hospitals assigned to handle COVID-19 infected patients. For the second, cotton masks were produced by a home industry in Gayam, which was part of ExxonMobil’s local business development program in 2018.
