WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation announced today support from Google.org and JPMorgan Chase & Co. to develop a web-based platform to generate clearer signals for in-demand skills. This platform will provide employers and their HR technology partners the tools and resources they need to clearly communicate their hiring requirements in a rapidly changing talent marketplace.
“This initiative is one example of our efforts to engage the business community in the creation of a talent pipeline architecture that will close the national skills gap and provide better career pathways for students and workers alike,” said Cheryl Oldham, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber Foundation Center for Education and Workforce. “Employers have a strong role to play in managing their talent supply chains. This project is a necessary next step to allow them to more clearly communicate their hiring requirements for critical jobs to workforce development partners and educators across the country.”
This work will assist employers and HR technology partners with the open standards and resources they need to develop more accurate, complete, and comparable job descriptions at the competency and credentialing level. It will also help them distribute this information in ways that can be used by those who are looking for it, improving recruitment and job matching as well as curriculum and credential alignment with talent sourcing partners, including colleges and universities.
“Through the Google.org Work Initiative, we’re supporting new efforts to help people prepare for and connect to jobs in the changing economy. We’re excited to support the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation through this initiative, and their work to encourage more open standards for job postings.” --Andrew Dunckelman, Economic Opportunity Lead at Google.org
As a result of this initiative, students and workers will have access to accurate and up-to-date information regarding job requirements and will be able to match their skills to available positions. Employers and their education, workforce, and HR partners will be able to improve their searches for qualified candidates, engage in competency-based hiring, and effectively signal competency and credentialing needs to one another.
“This platform is an important technology solution, driven by the private sector, that helps connect employers and potential employees in a new and important way,” said Chauncy Lennon, Head of Workforce Initiatives, JPMorgan Chase. “We’re excited to see such meaningful progress in providing students with more opportunities to find in-demand career pathways while helping to fill open, in-demand jobs.”
