Cathleen Smith Grzesiek is the Senior Vice President of Health Strategies for the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate of the American Heart Association. In this role, Cathleen provides strategic direction, leadership, and technical expertise for AHA’s core health functions within the region, including Advocacy, Communications, Community Impact and Quality and Systems Improvement, to ensure maximum impact toward health and wellbeing.
Over her 22 years with the American Heart Association, Cathleen has held several key roles, including Vice President of Government Relations for the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, where she managed all government relations and public policy in the region. She also served as Senior Director of Government Relations in Virginia for ten years, leading state advocacy efforts in Virginia and managing the regional grassroots program. She holds undergraduate degrees in Political Theory and History from Michigan State University and received a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Virginia.
