David I. Maurstad serves as the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Deputy Associate Administrator for Insurance and Mitigation. In this role, he leads the delivery of the agency’s risk management, mitigation, and flood insurance programs.
Mr. Maurstad is also the chief executive of the National Flood Insurance Program or NFIP, which serves 5 million policyholders across more than 22,000 communities.
He also directs FEMA’s National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program and National Dam Safety Program.
Mr. Maurstad is a veteran of the insurance industry and a seasoned emergency manager. He is a former Administrator of FEMA Region 8 and Assistant Administrator for Federal Insurance.
His commitment to public service extends to the past elected positions of Nebraska Lieutenant Governor, Nebraska State Senator, and Mayor of Beatrice, Nebraska.
