Dr. Michael Sokol joined WebMD Health Services as Chief Medical Officer in 2016. He is a physician executive with over 20 years of population health experience, primarily in large health care corporations including Sanofi US, Merck & Co., Inc., GlaxoSmithKline plc and Medco Health Solutions, Inc.

At WebMD Health Services, Dr. Sokol works with the Product Development team to provide the vision, strategy and plans for the company’s products and services, and to identify new areas of opportunity while supporting clients and publicly representing the organization. He oversees an advisory panel of leading researchers and clinicians focused on delivering new and engaging wellness solutions for the employees and members of WebMD’s clients. Dr. Sokol is also responsible for the clinical quality and accreditation of WebMD Health Services’ condition management programs.

Dr. Sokol was previously the Vice President of Employee Wellness and Chief Wellness Officer for Sanofi US, where he oversaw the care of 50,000 employees and their dependents. While there, he spearheaded the development, implementation and measurement of the company’s first comprehensive health and wellness strategy.

Dr. Sokol serves on the Editorial Board of the journal Population Health Management. While at Sanofi, he served on the Board of the Institute on Innovations in Workforce Well-being of the National Business Group on Health®.

Dr. Sokol received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College (since 2014, the Sidney Kimmel Medical College) in Philadelphia and a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine from the University of Maryland. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Preventive Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Sokol is board certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.
