Jillian has served as Executive Director of the Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children (Iowa AEYC) since 2017. Jillian is part of the Early Childhood Iowa, Public and Private Partnership Committee, and sits on the Iowa advisory council for First Children’s Finance. Previously Jillian served as an educational administrator for the Meskwaki Settlement School in Iowa, as the EC-12th grade principal and then the superintendent. During her time with the Meskwaki Tribe Jillian served as an executive representative for the Appeals Committee, the Benefits Committee, the Grants approval committee and the Language and Culture Committee and the Tribal Education Committee while also serving on the Tribal Strategic Planning Team.
She has spent large part of her career in education for students with unique learning needs including second language learners and students with disabilities and has worked primarily with minority populations. Jillian’s firsthand experience raising a disabled child gives her insight and drive to advocate for access to quality child care and inclusion in quality early childhood programs.
Jillian holds a BA in Elementary Education from Buena Vista University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Viterbo University.
