Sarah Henly-Shepard is the senior advisor for climate change, resilience, environment, and disaster risk reduction at Mercy Corps. In this position, she provides technical support and thought leadership in resilience, disaster risk reduction, development, and climate change adaptation, particularly in the context of complex humanitarian emergencies. Henley-Shepard has a master's of public health in humanitarian assistance and a PhD in natural resources, environmental management, and disaster resilience, and is a member of the global board of directors for the Global Network for Civil Society Organisations in Disaster Reduction. She has 20 years of implementation, research, and advocacy experience in the fields of community health and development, disaster risk reduction and resilience, climate change adaptation, humanitarian assistance, human rights, and natural resource management.
