Katie Sarro is a senior policy director at the Council on Competitiveness, a non-partisan leadership organization of corporate CEOs, university presidents, labor leaders and national laboratory directors committed to advancing U.S. competitiveness in the global economy. Katie manages the Council’s portfolio of energy and manufacturing initiatives and leads the Energy and Manufacturing Competitiveness Partnership (EMCP).
Prior to joining the Council, Katie was an account manager at Outreach Strategies, a communications firm in Washington, D.C. specializing in sustainability policy and advocacy. Katie managed engagement with a number of public and private sector clients including the Government of Guyana, the Ohio Manufacturers' Association and the Water Environment Federation.
Katie began her career as an associate at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), first at the organization's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and then at the North America regional office in Washington, DC. At WBCSD, Katie developed communications and programming to strengthen U.S. corporate engagement in various issues across the sustainability landscape. She also worked on content development around inclusive business initiatives and sustainable lifestyles, and has written a number of articles and case studies on a number of sustainability issues.
Katie graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and holds an MBA from the University of Geneva as well as a master’s degree in public and international affairs from Pitt.
